Workplace Christmas Gospel Convo
I have a story to share about a rejected Christmas gift in 2000 at work 😂.
Story here:
I was working in a high rise bldg in LA. The company owned several bldgs in downtown LA. It was the year before 9/11.
I had no evangelism training nor experience. I just flew by the seat of my pants cuz I just had no idea how to witness I just tried what I could.
I do wish i had owned a recorder at the time so I could write out this story well because so much was said and is a great example of how you can reach and navigate with the Lost.
I tried to find a way to share Christ at Christmas and Easter at work. I knew the job was contracted only for 2 years and i worked with only my boss and I in a leasing dept that had a seperate office to the rest of the hq office. So I took chances here cuz I woupdnt be here long and took the approach as if i was at a public school - hand something out at lunch while people were gone. I coukdnt do that to the executives too as they were on the outer glass offices. But I was able to do it for about 7 secretaries and a paralegal. It was a mini brown bag with a candy in it or a couple candies and a gospel message I wrote up and pieced together myself. It probably had an invite to church in it too but maybe not since LA was a big place. But there was a sort of encouragement Christward.
Towards the end of the day one of the ladies, and older black lady (maybe 45?) came 8nto my office, returned the bag and said she doesnt want anything to do with Christianity. Her grabdmother was a Christian. I said I was sorry to hear that. She doesnt want to talk about Christianity... and then engaged me in my first actual Christian conversation with someone (besides an attempt in the milirary with a good friend).
She didnt want to talk about Christianity but then proceeded to talk to me about it for 40 minutes 😂😊. I hope I was able to plant some good seeds that day. I remember sime of the convo but nit enough to recreate here. Afterwards, my boss, (almost retirement age), came out to see me fir a quick second. The door was open to his office the whole time 😳😉🙂 and I was hoping he heard it and was either encouraged to be saved or edified and encouraged in gospel convos. I had found out afterwards he was Episcopalian but I didnt know what they believed at that time, so I hoped the convo was good for him to hear. I envision he was sitting there grinning at his desk and listening in 😆. When he came out it was kinda like side smiles. I just thank God for helping me through that convo and preparing me with knowledge from Scriptures to help.
I came from a very small church youth group. Usually it was just me 😅 so i knew not much and even in military had no way to get to a church or was somewhere where there was none. So I barely knew the Bible and till then had no idea we should read it daily. What I knew came from church long before the internet was a thing and most never heard of nor had computers with internet. Today yall are so much further and better off than me. But I am grateful to God for solid teachers and preachers I learned from back then, and for having access to a Bible.
❣ Will update to above longer more detailed witnessing encounter, if I ever find it.
9/11 2001 happened not long after that and perhaps God used this to reach her for Christ. A lot of people ended back up at churchbduring that time. And about 6 months later the company closed. Everyone went their seperate ways.
