Today Gen Z and Gen Alpha have apathy to the things of God. They dont actually care if God exists. We should guide a conversation to show them why they should care. And if we do it well, they stick around long enough to hear the important 2nd half; Jesus.
If you watch enough livingwaters.com youtube evangelism encounter conversations you will see how Ray is very good at manuvering the convo, steering it, right to the heart of the matter, and he avoids apathy of the lost person by doing so. He gets them to engage but uses illustrations and good points where hopefully 1. They get to that point and 2. How to engage those folks, just like everyone else.
Here is a good example link & link.
Here is an example of how it didnt go well.
*Actually one was closed off after even knowing the discussion was on the afterlife. The other had some influence of Christianity in the past, but seemed apathetic even tho he engaged a bit.
In a world where more and more havent heard of Jesus, those in the West who do have access and missed a biblical gospel convo to gain clarity and grasp at the convo is a very sad loss to these folk. One guy didnt want to hear it. One listened, but was apathetic and wasnt repentant.
However 50k-200k watch those videos and people are praying the interviewee hears, thinks, remembers, and gets saved. The elderly man heard nothing and so all we can do is pray he meets a biblical Christian to have a biblical conversation. My hope is someone says "Has anyone ever talked with you about life after death and about God?" And then he is open. He too has that 50k to 200k people praying for him. It is very sad that in America a watered down world embracing Christianity infected this country, so much so it seemsclike the lukewarm era Jesus warned about. There is still hope though, the few might be there but God uses the faithful. Just "go".
While you might be alone, or with 2 or 3* people, there are benefits. Incl. when you are stumped or dont know a online resource for an answer or issue the unsaved or wayward person has "the other believers with you" who can jump in to take that question, and help resteer it back to the Gospel.
God isnt calling us to be successful. He is calling us to be faithful as a messenger of the Gospel, obeying the great commission. God's Word doesnt return void. You just plant the seeds as you can, water others, and you might see some harvest now or when all is revealed in eternity.
Footnotes
* Today, going with 1 or 2 others is super important for safety and legal issues.
You can go in twos to talk and have the 3rd believer nearby praying, and as a witness if there are issues. Both in public and door to door.
