There are surprising opportunities to witness on social media. I've found some and it's so interesting how God keeps bringing more opportunities to me, and some I just laugh about.
I've seen posts about evil things that have happened in life, things related to stealing, things related to fun pages or animal pages or nature/creation and even food.
2 examples.
1. There was a video that wasnt really viral but had gone around seen by a few thousand people. It was of a huge ocean wave on the side of a cliffside area where people could watch from vantage points and it was such a huge wave. Hundreds were out there watching it. Looks like a tourist spot. So this person posted a video of watching this super gigantic wave and the awe of everyone there. I was able to say something simple like "Wow God sure has created such amazing things. It causes us to stop and think about it all. NeedGod.com" I posted related to the post, put God in proper perspective of the creation and pointed to the gospel. easy peezy.
2. I had watched a video when it came out, from a Christian ministry, that had posted about the specifically listed things in the Bible that Jesus ate. I was like wow that's so great. I know he ate all the things the Israelites ate also back then, but to be able to use food Jesus ate for the gospel, that's a great idea! I happened to see a recipe post or someone excited about posting some homemade bread they had made, and I was able to say "That looks delicious! And it just made me remember a video I saw that talked about the foods Jesus ate. NeedGod.com" easy. You can link to the video itself, as it has a gospel message on it, or you can send them right to the gospel.
Isn't it great all the ways God has made possible for us to share the gospel. From those with little ways and knowledge on how to do so, to those more seasoned and those who can wiz around easily with lots of knowledge.
So dont think you cant do anything for the Gospel's sake. God can use you online right where you are, with whatever you can think of and the Holy Spirit can lead you to accomplish.
Cause the people to think.
But know that not only can you leave comments w facts, answers and links...but you can also ask engaging and interesting questions And provide a link to something offsite, that doesn't even have to do with the question you posed
I'll post various other samples soon. But here is an idea.
When a post talking about something evil, criminal, or related murder or the holocaust etc...
And or someone comments in a way that you could use this idea.
Example:
The topic is related to murder or holocaust. Reply
"We'll, 🤔 theres a famous question once asked: 'If someone sent you back in history, to kill 1 person; such as Hitler before he was born, would you kill him to save millions of lives?' Tinyurl.com/the180movie"
If someone engages you in the convo and says they'd do it. Or they don't know.

"the problem with the question is that someone is asking or forcing someone else to murder. Hitler murdered people and you would become just like Him.
1. The one sending someone to take out 1 person would also one day do the same to justify taking thousands of innocent lives claiming it would save a million.
2. The essence of the question and the key to the problem is the "real" bad person is the one who made the question or rule in trying to trick you into requiring you to make a choice saying "you have to choose an answer" would you kill 1 person to save 1 million. Yes or no. Thats straight from Satan. Just like the person who ask if God can make a rock too heavy for Him to lift.
3. God (YHWH) has His plans for all that would happen in this world even by a horrible historical situation like that, w The holocaust. In fact not only has that historical evil served as a warning for future generations globally, but at the time it also not only brought many to Jesus after the holocaust, of those rescued, of their descendants, and among all the peoples globally who fought that war, but it continues to bring people to Him today. And it is teaching us about such things going on today to open the eyes of those who do not connect the dots, lest 😱 in horror, we repeat history >>> Tinyurl.com/the180movie
4. This is different than 1 person willingly laying down their life for 1 million, 1 billion or 50 billion people >>> needGod com

This kind of question springboard can get someone thinking, reasoning and point them to some truths, and reveal something they never thought about before.
Plus for 22 yrs, (from 2000 to 2022), public schools and colleges purposely stopped teaching about Hitler and the holocaust, with ulterior motives run by liberals agenda.....this means future generations will be duped & deceived by socialism, communism and Marxism, and it will happen again in diff ways, if we don't point them to this history. (Which this short movie does well to teach.)
And most people today do not know what the actual gospel is, dont understand the need for Jesus, and do not actually understand what Jesus did. So we can help point them to all these things as opportunities arise.

WAYS TO ENGAGE
Also note that besides Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, and other big social media places, you can find mini social media places to find chat rooms, but also when you are on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram you can also redirect people into conversations in your dm/messenger chat for private chats. That is also a good idea to continue or move a conversation away from comment areas because some things you say might be placing you in a position to be flagged by that person in comments and get you in trouble with the social platform; the platforms give you the permanent boot after a few times you get in trouble, and most of the time they do not even look at your objection or appeal. You do not want to lose all your friends and family connections on facebook and other social platforms you use.
So if you do not redirect someone to or offer lurkers/readers of comments to a offsite web resource for a answer to an issue, you might want to redirect to your dm's for an actual conversation. You are fishing for opportunities so you can engage people and redirect the conversation to the gospel.
